During Tuesday’s BBC Breakfast, Matt Hancock appeared on the programme via video link to talk about the latest government guidelines, the issue of COVID-19 vaccines and the new £5,000 travel fines. The Health Secretary appeared to get a tad emotional as he recalled how the past year has been the “hardest year in a generation”. Taking to Twitter after the interview, BBC viewers appeared to get annoyed with host Dan as they felt the interview “lacked accountability”.
After the chat, one disgruntled BBC Breakfast viewer tweeted: “Respectfully. This was an interview with MH that completely lacked the ability to challenge his accountability or justifications for the actions taken.
“If there are lessons to be learned then what are they? Honesty now will lead to being trusted in future.”
While a second echoed on Twitter: “#bbcbreakfast easy ride this week for politicians.”
