3rd November 2021

LEANNE Battersby has been through hell in the last few years in Coronation Street.

The grieving mum – who is played by actress Jane Danson in the ITV soap – is only just coming to terms with the death of her young son Oliver, and now she faces being a mother figure again.

When drug dealer Harvey shot Natasha Blakeman in a tragic case of mistaken identity, Natasha lost her life.

She left behind her son Sam, who now lives with Leanne and his dad Nick.

But after breaking down and confessing she’s terrified at the thought of ever being anything like a mother again – it begins to look like next week she will have no choice.

As the funeral cars pull up on the street for Natasha’s farewell, Sam slips his hand into Nick’s who squeezes it tightly.

It soon becomes clear that Sam isn’t going to speak any time soon – and so Nick and Leanne agree it’s time to seek professional help for Sam.

After a zoom appointment with Sam, Dr Gaddas confirms that she’s referring him to Mental Health Services for talking therapy.

Later, having been left to look after Sam, Simon does his best to persuade him out of his room, but without any success.

When she comes home, Leanne is forced to push her own fears away and talk to Sam through the locked bedroom door.

She tells him she understands his pain but as part of his family, she just wants to help. Will Sam soften to Leanne?
