With more than 45 million people watching Bird Box, the Netflix horror smash hit, in the first week of its release on the streaming service, there was always going to be a few that would analyse every moment of the film.
The Sandra Bullock led movie has proved to be a record-breaker for Netflix and those that made it were careful to ensure the monster that is stalking Sandra’s character is not seen on screen at any point.
The terrifying beast causes anyone that claps eyes on it to commit suicide but viewers at home are not meant to see it.
There are some though that have claimed that this is not the case and in fact, there is a couple times when the horrific beast can be seen.
Bird Box director, Susanne Bier said that she wanted to keep the creature hid so that viewers’ imaginations could run wild.
She said: "I pretty much feel that with creature movies – and they can be amazing.
"I recognize they are amazing – but there’s always a part of me that goes, ‘I’m not scared now. I’ve seen it.’”
So, when do these creatures appear in the film? Bird Box watchers have said that the first time is when Sandra Bullock is hiding in a house and the monster can be seen in silhouette form as it passes by the window.
The other, clearer shot, is when Gary starts drawing the beats over and over again, after he had been driven crazy by setting eyes on the monsters.
The character played by Tom Hollander is seen briefly sketching out a tentacled creature that have huge black eyes, but there is no direct look at the monsters during the film itself.
Based upon a 2014 novel by Josh Malerman, the synopsis for the hit movie states: "Five years after an ominous unseen presence drives most of society to suicide, a survivor and her two children make a desperate bid to reach safety.
“She lives with her windows covered up at home and only goes outside wearing a blindfold until they get a chance of freedom.
“But if they open their eyes, they’ll be infected with something that will force them to violently kill themselves.”
The terrifying film has been hailed by critics and viewers have described it as one of the most disturbing horror movies ever made.
