CBS comedy hit The Big Bang Theory may have come to an end last year, but lead star Kaley Cuoco has already landed her next gig. Ahead of the release of her new series, The Flight Attendant on HBO Max, the star has confessed she had to take fake sex lessons from her new co-star.

Kaley Cuoco has dropped some surprising insight into her most intimate moments filming the new HBO Max series, The Flight Attendant.

HBO’s new miniseries premieres its first three episodes tonight, November 26, and will feature Kaley Cuoco in her first major live-action role since the sitcom concluded last year.

The former Big Bang Theory star leads the show as Casie Bowden, a flight attendant who enjoys a night of passion with a stranger, Alex Sokolov (played by Michiel Huisman).

Things take a dark turn when, the next morning, Cassie wakes up hungover with Alex’s dead body lying next to her in bed.

Before she tries to piece the night together and prove to the cops she isn’t the killer, Cuoco had the daunting task of filming a steamy, realistic sex scene with her co-star Michiel Huisman.

Speaking to USA Today, the comedy star admitted getting this intimate on-screen was a complete first.

Cuoco explained: “Network 8 o’clock TV is a little different than HBO Max all hours of the night. I had scenes like that on Big Bang, but this was like a true sex scene.”

The star’s role as the beautiful girl-next-door Penny occasionally led to some raunchier moments, especially when her relationship with nerdy neighbour Leonard (Johnny Galecki) started to develop.

Since then, the actress has reinvented herself as a voice actor, stepping into the role of the Joker’s ex-girlfriend Harley Quinn in the DC villain’s own animated series.

The Flight Attendant not only marks Cuoco’s first foray into drama, but also encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone during her scenes with Huisman.

The star confessed her inexperience in that area meant her co-star had to guide her through some of the trickier techniques.

She went on: “I told Michiel, ‘I’ve never done this before. Have you done it before?’ He goes, ‘Yeah, like 30, 40 times.’ And I was like, ‘WHAT?’”

Dutch actor Michiel Huisman is perhaps best known for his role as Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones, one of the most notoriously full-frontal shows on TV.

Cuoco tried to keep things civil by distancing herself away from Huisman during their bedroom scenes, but it just made things more difficult when the cameras started rolling.

She recalled: “So when they called action, I still wasn’t really giving my all. Michiel finally goes, ‘It looks like you’re hovering over a public toilet. What are you doing?’

“I’m like, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing.’ So he had to awkwardly teach me how to have fake sex.”

Despite the awkwardness, the lessons certainly paid off, as Cuoco revealed to Metro.co.uk how The Flight Attendant gave her a chance to stretch her abilities as an actress.

She said: “This is definitely my coming-out party in the sense of showing everyone I can do something other than comedy.”

Hopefully Michiel Huisman’s teachings were effective as Kaley Cuoco’s fans are looking forward to seeing the former sitcom star in a more dramatic context in the new series.

The Flight Attendant premieres Thursday, November 26 on HBO Max. The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Netflix.
