Carol Kirkwood has revealed she met the Queen three times – and she told viewers about what the world famous monarch is really like in person.

The weather expert presented her forecasting segment live from Buckingham Palace on Wednesday's BBC Breakfast (June 1) – ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations which kick off later this week.

The Platinum Jubilee celebrations are set to honour 70 years of Her Majesty's service to the country, and it will see Brits enjoy a four-day weekend from Thursday.

It's been a busy year already for Scottish weather star Carol, 60, as last week she told viewers she was happily engaged.

However, charismatic Carol is already back on our screens to tell BBC viewers all about what conditions they can expect from the days ahead – and this week she was on royal turf.

She had just finished her weather segment live from the Buckingham Palace gardens when BBC Breakfast host Sally Nugent wanted to tell viewers how many times Carol had met Her Majesty.

Sally said: "Carol before we let you go, I just wanted to share with everybody at home. You are a very lucky lady in lots of ways, aren't you? And one of the ways you are very lucky is I know you have previously met the Queen.

"Not once, not twice… how many times?"
