BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty calls Carol Kirkwood ‘cruel and wicked’ for snub

Naga Munchetty jokingly called weather presenter Carol Kirkwood a "cruel and wicked woman" after a surprise during her weather report on BBC Breakfast.

The presenter took her seat on the sofa on Thursday morning alongside co-host Charlie Stayt and were joined by resident weather reporter Carol.

During her segment, Carol explained how the Christmas lights installation at Kew Gardens are popular with couples. To prove her point, she decided to pull her own proposal stunt at the romantic "cathedral of lights".

She told the two men who were kneeling on one knee: "Oh gosh, you are far too young for me.

"And as for you too. But thank you very much. Gosh, two marriage proposals in the space of 30 seconds, good going!"

The weather reporter then talked about the social distancing rules at Kew Gardens before moving onto the weather forecast.

At the end of the segment, she added: "I'm off for a lie down, two proposals are good by anyone!"

Naga jumped in and jokingly said: "Carol, I admire that you carried on walking down the tunnel of lights, or the tunnel of love and cruelly cut down and slashed the hearts of two young men.

"I mean, you are a cruel and wicked woman, I know."

Carol let out a few laughs and said: "Anyone would think you staged it!"

But Naga gave her a smirking look, adding: "Never, never do such a thing. That's not bad, two men on their knees at 7.43am in the morning."

Co-star Charlie chimed in: "They scarpered pretty quickly. They were off like a flash."
