Abi Webster (Sally Carman) is on hand to offer advice to Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in Coronation Street as he discovers that not only is his biological mother alive, but she also battles with a drug addiction.
Cassie (Claire Sweeney) made her arrival a few weeks ago and ended up in hospital after overdosing on drugs. Her mum, Evelyn (Maureen Lipman), was furious to see her and said there was no way she could see Tyrone, as all she’d end up doing is ruining his life.
Evelyn decided to help Cassie by leaving the cobbles so she could attend a rehab centre. In upcoming episodes, they return, but keep their distance from Tyrone and the family by renting a flat at the precinct.
Over there, Evelyn gets a message from Ty who says that it’s the girls’ show today and they would love her support.
Evelyn concludes that she can’t go and leave Cassie, but her daughter manages to persuade Evelyn to let her grab a coffee as she’s been clean for weeks.
The plan to get coffee is a fake one, as Cassie makes her way to the Bistro where Tyrone recognises her as Cath, the friend of James and wonders if she’s heard anything from Evelyn.
A breathless Evelyn then hurries into the Bistro, just as Cassie confirms that she’s Tyrone’s mum!
As the aftermath unfolds, Tyrone pours his heart out to Kev (Michael Le Vell) and Abi.
It’s during this conversation where Abi – who also once had a drug addiction – advises him to think long and hard before introducing a recovering drug addict into the girls’ lives.
As Ty makes his way over to the precinct flat, what will he decide to do?
