Wolves fan avoids huge train fare to Newcastle game… by flying there via Benidorm
9th December 2018

One loyal supporter sent social media into meltdown when he posted a picture of himself enjoying a night out in the Spanish hotspot.

Wolves fan Steve Horton claimed it was cheaper for him to fly to Spain ahead of the crunch clash at St James' Park.

Alongside a picture of himself, he wrote on Twitter: "En route to Newcastle via Benidorm courtesy of @Ryanair. Cheaper than the train #coyw @Wolves."

A return ticket from Wolverhampton to Newcastle would have set them back around £114.

But a flight from Birmingham to Alicante is around £30, while it costs as little as £15 to then jet from Spain to the airport in Toon – making a saving of close to £70.

Fans on Twitter were impressed by his idea and praised Steve for his commitment to the club.

One said: "Absolutely brilliant made my day reading this and just says it all."

Another added: "More enjoyable than the train!! Enjoy the trip."

While another complained: "Train fares in this country are an absolute joke!"

But he would not have wanted to miss the match after Wolves' phenomenal 2-1 win over Chelsea last weekend.

Nuno Espirito's Santo's side are 13th table, with five wins from 15 games in the English top-flight.
