US racing tips: Templegate's best bets for the meeting at Gulfstream Park on Sky Sports Racing on Thursday
16th April 2020

The selection took a pretty big step forward when finishing a half-length second over the dead mile here last time. She finished the race well so this slightly longer trip should be ideal.

Aerodynamic is sure to have a say after a course and distance success last time out. That was in a similar race to this and she won with plenty left in the tank. Anything like that form again would make her a major danger.

AWESOME VIEW looks the answer in this field of newcomers. She has the ideal draw in stall one and her sire has produced a high number of winners at a decent strike-rate.

Lime comes from Wesley Ward who is well known for his exploits with two-year-olds at Royal Ascot down the years. This filly should know her job on debut and has come out best in a couple of public gallops. She has a top jockey on board and will go mighty close.

Quinoa Tifah has a wide berth to contend with but she has shown promise in her workouts and is another to watch in the market.

MORE THAN USUAL has shown some promise despite failing to get home on his two runs so far. It looks a wise move to drop back from a mile to this sprint distance and he can get off the mark.

Weekend Dreamer clocked a big personal best when beaten in a driving finish over course and distance last time out. He has more experience than a few of these and a repeat of that effort would put him on the premises again.

Legendary Prince has been working well so could improve on his debut sixth here in February. Bychance was ahead of him in that race but appears to have gone backwards since.

GREY MANNERS looks the one to beat in this modest contest. She has shown bits and pieces of form in better races, including when fifth over five furlongs here last time. She didn’t get the best of runs there and is capable of better with top rider Luis Saez taking over on top.

Incredible Miss is having her sights lowered plenty and pulled away her chances when last here over a mile latest. Her best efforts so far have come over sprint distances and she can make the most of her low draw.

Take Charge Again was in winning form over this trip and track in January and is another who has been pitched into better races than this.

WICKED MERCURY looks red hot after a close-up third in a similar race to this last time, with a couple of today’s rivals struggling to land a blow. She was forced wide heading into the home straight, which didn’t help, and this opposition doesn’t look any stronger.

Our Fantasy was a place behind the selection last time on the back of a good second over this mile on the dirt track. She has placed form on grass so should be competitive again.

Summer In The City showed some promise when fifth on debut here last month. She has won a workout since then and is capable of better still.

JOYFUL HEART went for broke much too early here last time and paid the price as he faded in the closing stages. She had looked like a winner in waiting on her two runs before that with good seconds over this sort of distance. There is definitely another win in her provided she is allowed to settle in the early stages.

Bourbon Currency could take the biscuit with a repeat of his good third here over a sprint trip. He was doing his best work at the finish so there’s every chance he will get home.

Lookin At Roses just failed with a strong late run when second here last time. She’s a certain stayer and will be in the mix again.

BIG HAMBONE looks tasty after a much improved effort when third over a mile on the turf track here last time. He has a win and six places from his 12 starts on dirt so there’s every chance he can repeat that form in what looks a very winnable race.

January Won is the clear form horse taking a massive drop in class from a Grade 1 contest at Keeneland last time out. He was never in with a serious shout but does have a win in better company than this to his name. That was over a sprint trip, which is a concern, but his class alone makes him a danger on comeback.

Holy Muchacho won a similar race to this two runs ago before a laboured effort upped in grade last time. He has few miles on the clock so could progress.

HERO UP has been enjoying himself on this turf track and had more than two lengths in hand when winning last time out. He pulled quickly clear from his rivals there and looks capable of better again on just his eighth career start.

Drama In Dixie showed what he could do when finishing a good second here two runs ago. He never got going last time but it’s too early to write him off.

Warrant Officer could make the most of his inside draw given that he showed good speed from the gates last time out. Sustaining that challenge may be the problem over this trip as he faded tamely latest.

CAJUN BROTHER showed real heart to win a ding-dong battle on his debut here last month. Since then he has galloped in public a couple of times and impressed the workwatchers last week. This is a hotter race than last time but he should improve enough to figure.

Charlie The Greek won with plenty left in the tank over an extra half-furlong here latest. He left He Iz Gone and Unpublished trailing in his wake that day and there’s no reason why they should turn the form around.

R Mercedes Boy has winning form at the track and should find this a lot easier than the hot race he contested at Tampa last time. He’s back from a break which is a concern.

TREV has already clocked up 14 wins in his career and looked as good as ever when winning by an impressive seven lengths at Tampa last time out.

He was in great form the last time he tackled this course and distance back in August with a victory by five lengths. He comes back from a break here but the veteran can kick off the campaign with another victory.

Quarky could be the main danger as he makes his seasonal return. He was last seen finishing a close second in a good contest at Belmont and saves his best for this trip.

Cucina is still learning the game but showed great heart to win a thriller over course and distance last month.

FRENCH QUARTER is holding his form well as a nine-year-old and battled right to the line to win by a head here last time. He drops back half a furlong today but that shouldn’t be an issue as he has plenty of zip.

Elusive Ro came back from a break to run a fair fourth here latest on the back of a good win. He is rarely out of the frame and should be in the reckoning again.

Valdocco did well to finish second here latest despite meeting trouble in running. This looks a slightly softer race than that so he’ll be on the premises under his claiming rider.
