JORGE MASVIDAL has vowed to “break” Conor McGregor’s face and believes a potential fight would be an “easy paycheck”.
The American, 34, had MMA fans buzzing last weekend with his historic victory over Ben Askren at UFC 239.
His flying knee and the punches that followed KOed his opponent to earn him the fastest win ever recorded inside the Octagon.
Heading into the event, it was widely-believed the victor would be made No1 contender for a clash with welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
But if his emphatic triumph fails to secure him a title shot, Masvidal knows exactly who he would like to face next and he used his appearance on The Dan LeBatard Show to call out the Irishman.
The man nicknamed “Gamebred” said: “I want McGregor. I want to break his face. I think that’s an easy paycheck.
“He’s got these cash symbols written all over his face for me. I just don’t see it going his way if I’m honest with you.”
He added: “It’s just a fight that, if we made it, it’s going to sell a lot.
“I’m going to get the money that I deserve, and you can see: You put me there in a fight, and I’m going to fight.
“I’m going to give you what the fans want. I’ve never pulled out of a fight.”
No doubt Masvidal vs McGregor is a bout fans would love to see.
But it remains to be seen whether “Notorious” can be enticed back into the Octagon, especially for a non-title fight.
He has not fought since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October last year.
The 30-year-old is interested in chasing a high-profile rematch with unbeaten superstar Khabib, but the Russian has hinted at an early retirement.
He told Russia24: “Definitely, my career is not at the initial stage.
“I am somewhere near the end. But I probably need to hold a couple of fights, I feel that there is still a rivalry in me.
“I want to play, I want to compete with the best fighters in the world. We’ll see; this is a question that is now meaningless to answer – I have a fight ahead.”
