UFC boss Dana White did the 'worst thing' getting into war of words with Jake Paul, says boxing promoter Eddie Hearn

EDDIE HEARN reckons UFC boss Dana White made a big mistake getting involved in a feud with Jake Paul.

White has been going back and forth with the YouTuber turned boxer for several months, with Paul regularly taking aim at the MMA mogul for his promotion's pay structure.

Paul's slick responses have gone viral to the point fight fans have urged White not to engage the 25-year-old, something Matchroom Boxing chief Hearn wouldn't do.

He told The Mirror: "I can't compete with him, chat-wise.

"And the worst thing that you can ever do as Dana White learned the other day is try and chat back to him.

"So I'm just going to stand up there and say 'as far as I understand, this is the second coming of Muhammad Ali, the greatest promoter of all time and just let him go.

"I don't mind, as I've got a bit older I've become a bit more humble – if you asked me 10 years ago, I might have said 'he can't outtalk me'.

"I'm sure he can, even though he can't outtalk me on boxing knowledge!"

Paul is currently eyeing a switch to mixed martial arts after his brutal KO of former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley.

And White has refused to rule out the possibility of The Problem Child setting foot inside the octagon.

He told The Nelk Boys: I don’t know. I don’t think that would ever happen, but listen – I never say never anymore.

"You know, I didn’t think Floyd and Conor, or that I would end up doing any of my guys against Floyd. Because that just makes absolutely no sense.”

Although White doesn't see eye-to-eye with Paul, the veteran promoter has a level of respect for the social media star.

He said: “Well it’s not that he doesn’t have my respect.

"You know, I don’t even know the kid. At the end of the day, I don’t even know the kid.

"And you know what? To be honest with you, I’ll tell you right here right now, this is the last time you will hear me talk about him.

"I’m done with it. I put out the challenge, he said, ‘You do coke’, I said, ‘I think you use performance-enhancing drugs’, he never responded to it.

"So fire away kid, do your thing. I’m sitting here arguing with this kid who doesn’t even fight for me, and is never going to fight for me.

"So what’s the point with him and I going back and forth with each other?”
