Royal Ascot tips: King's Stand Stakes betting preview ahead of the Group 1 live on ITV Racing
16th June 2020

THE King's Stand Stakes is the first big sprint of the week at Royal Ascot.

The Group 1 is live on ITV at 3.35pm and our man Jack Keene has had a good look at the 11-strong field.

This is all about BATTAASH. One of the fastest, if not the fastest, horse in the world.

He has finished second in this race for the last two years at the hands of old rival Blue Point – but that horse has now retired to stud.

Even if Ascot isn't his favourite track, a reproduction of either of his second places finishes will likely be good enough to land the spoils here.

Throw into the mix that he has become a much easier ride over the last 12 months (he doesn't have to blast off anymore) and he is 4-4 on reappearance during his career.

Glass Slippers is the obvious threat, given how much she improved towards the back-end of last season.

She had the run of the race when winning the Abbaye (Battaash tailed off in behind having never gone a yard) but she was well on top at the line. She needs to improve significantly again but that is very possible.

There is another rapid filly in here in the shape of Liberty Beach, and she warmed up for this with a cosy win at Haydock. The drop back to 5f is a plus but this is a big step up.

Equilateral is a solid performer and has place claims. But the one who appeals most from an each-way perspective is longshot TIZ MARVELLOUS, who has a brilliant record at this track.

He has won both starts over the 5f here and was a cracking second in the fiercely competitive Wokingham Handicap 12 months ago.
