Pep Guardiola reacts angrily to Chelsea coach in full-time bust-up at Stamford Bridge
9th December 2018

Manchester City boss Guardiola appeared furious as he went to shake the hand of fitness coach Paolo Bertelli.

Guardiola shook the hands of every member of Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea staff at the end of his side's 2-0 defeat.

Bertelli appears to say something to Guardiola as the two begin their handshake.

But the former Barcelona manager quickly pulls away his right hand and brushes off Bertelli entirely.

Bertelli, who worked with Antonio Conte in the Italy national set-up and at Juventus, then puts his arms to the side, gesturing that he did not know what had caused Guardiola's anger.

Who is Paolo Bertelli?

PAOLO BERTELLI is a fitness coach at Chelsea.

He worked with Antonio Conte in the Italy side and at Juventus.

Bertelli began at Fiorentina – who he served for 14 years – including during former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri’s time in charge there.

He also worked at Udinese and at Roma for six years, where he again teamed up with current Fulham gaffer Ranieri.

Bertelli moved to Juve in 2011 and was there for the three successive Scudetto successes under Conte.

He was named best physical coach in Serie A on four occasions.

The Spaniard then shakes the hand of another member of the Blues' backroom staff before walking off down the tunnel.

It is unclear what Bertelli and Guardiola talked about or why the Etihad chief became so incensed.

Marco Ianni angered Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho when he ran in front of him to celebrate in October.

The Chelsea coach was fined £6,000 for his actions.

Guardiola angrily confronted Southampton star Nathan Redmond on the pitch last year – but Guardiola later claimed he was complimenting the Englishman.

The City manager also appeared to berate Raheem Sterling for showing off during last month's Manchester derby.

Sterling was allegedly the victim of racist abuse during the game at Stamford Bridge – but he said he just had to laugh after being apparently being targeted by Chelsea fans.
