Pep Guardiola hits out at VAR in 90 second press conference as Man City miss out on another penalty – The Sun

PEP GUARDIOLA took a sarcastic dig at VAR as his Manchester City team were on the wrong end of technology yet again.

The City boss was fuming when  ref Andre Marriner refused to award a 60th-minute penalty as David Silva was brought down by Bournemouth’s Jefferson Lerma.

And even though TV replays showed there was contact in the box, the VAR officials ruled there was not enough evidence to overturn the decision.

It was too much for Guardiola, after having goals disallowed in games against West Ham and Spurs.

He snapped: “Was it a penalty? No, no, no. Just like last week’s clear handball. Penalty? Of course not.”

At least he was happy with the victory and said: “The challenge for us this season after back-to-back titles will be amazing.

“There were a few things to improve today but the quality of our players up front made the difference.”

But Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe reckons City’s Kyle Walker should have been sent off for two early fouls on Nathan Ake.

He said: “The two challenges by Walker were both yellow cards.
