NOTTINGHAM FOREST have been rocked by the news that Neco Williams' season is over.

The Forest full-back fractured his jaw in a sickening collision with teammate Brennan Johnson as they both challenged for a cross during Wednesday's 3-1 win over Brighton.

The 22-year-old was bleeding and required treatment on the pitch before being rushed to hospital where he was detained overnight, and later underwent surgery.

A statement from Forest said: "We are pleased to say that following positive surgery, the full-back is due to return home on Friday afternoon.

"We wish Neco all the best with his recovery."

Williams is the latest Forest star to join Steve Cooper's lengthy injury list.

Johnson sent a message of support to his stricken teammate Williams on Instagram which said: "Thinking of you bro", followed by two praying and heart emojis.

Meanwhile, Williams himself sent a message to teammates and fans confirming his setback – and that he will miss the remainder of the season.

But the Welshman hopes he can still help his side to fight for their Premier League survival from the sidelines.
