Matt Chapman tips: Super-sub Love can star in £1 million Juddmonte International at York and best bets for Ebor Festival
17th August 2021

IT promises to be a cracking week on the Knavesmire.

Love faces six rivals, which number Mishriff, close to being rated the top horse in the world, stepping-up-in-trip Coronation heroine Alcohol Free, Royal Ascot hero Mohaafeth and Irish 2000 Guineas victor Mac Swiney.

This will be a very different test now Love is involved, as I presume connections will want to make it a stamina test.

Many have written her off as a super star because she was all out to take the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot and then beaten by Adayar and Mishriff in the King George at Ascot.

Things did not go right in the latter event but she kept on very well and I'll keep the faith.

There is something special about her and she was devastating in the Yorkshire Oaks this time last year.

ITV coverage gets under way at 1.50pm with a handicap over an extended 5f.

This is tough! MONDAMMEJ is right at the top of his handicap mark and doesn't win very often.

That said, he's well up to taking a race like this if everything falls right and he's worth a few quid each-way for Antony Brittain and Cam Hardie.

The second race on the card ITV show is the Group 3 Acomb Stakes over 7f for juveniles.

EHRAZ was beaten by Noble Truth on debut but looked an absolute monster at Ascot last time and might be able to reverse the form for Richard Hannon and Jim Crowley.

There was just something about him at Ascot that made him look very special. He’s flashy and cool for Shadwell.

ITV broadcast four races each day and the other on Wednesday is the Group 2 Great Voltigeur over 1m4f for three-year-olds.

I once loved High Definition. But it's hard to know what to expect here after a tailed off effort when last seen.

The one I will back each-way is THIRD REALM for Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni.

He is not as good as a defeat of Adayar at Lingfield suggests, but he's still decent and was a fair third at Goodwood last time in the Gordon Stakes. I didn't feel he acted that well on the track and he might do better here.

Best of luck everyone. Yeeehaaa!
