Erik ten Hag has same loss ratio as Ralf Rangnick as horror stats emerge from Man Utd's worst season in 34 years | The Sun

ERIK TEN HAG has the same Premier League loss ratio as Ralf Rangnick.

The under-fire Manchester United boss saw his side slump to a dismal 3-2 home defeat to Galatasaray last night.

Galatasaray's win was their first on English soil in their entire 117-year history.

They had gone into the match without any Champions League group stage triumph since 2018, and none away from home since the 2012-13 season.

Man United now face an uphill battle to make it through to the knockout stage, having also lost their opener 4-3 to Bayern Munich.

While they have struggled in Europe, things have hardly been much better for the Red Devils in the Premier League.

Ten Hag's side have picked up just nine points from their opening seven Prem matches – their worst start to a campaign since 1989.

They have already lost matches to Tottenham, Arsenal, Brighton and Crystal Palace.

And it has now emerged that boss Ten Hag has the same Prem loss percentage as predecessor Rangnick.

The German, 65, endured a torrid spell as Man United's caretaker manager two seasons ago.

Rangnick lost seven of his 24 Prem games in charge, totalling 29 per cent.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, has lost 13 of his 45 – also equalling 29 per cent.

The Dutchman does have a far better win ratio than Rangnick, however, due to the fact that his team seldom draws matches.

United under Ten Hag have won 26, lost 13 and drawn just six of their 45 Prem games.

Rangnick, meanwhile, managed just 10 wins in 24 games, losing seven and drawing seven.

Ten Hag has the best win ratio of any United manager since Sir Alex Ferguson at 58 per cent in the Prem and 63 per cent in all competitions.

But only David Moyes, at 32 per cent, has a worse loss ratio.

Man United have now conceded 18 goals in their opening 10 matches in all competitions this season.

As per Opta, that is their worst figure since the 1966-67 season, when they conceded 20 in their opening 10 games.

Man United's defeat last night was their seventh in 14 Champions League matches at OId Trafford.

They had previously lost seven of their last 96 Champions League games at home.

Squawka also pointed out that no player has provided more assists at Old Trafford this season than Davinson Sanchez, after the former Tottenham defender laid on two goals last night.

On the opening day of this season, Wolves were unlucky to lose 1-0 at Old Trafford.

That night Gary O'Neil's men managed 23 shots on United's goal, the second-most by an away team at Old Trafford since the stat began being recorded in 2003.

The following week United suffered their first ever defeat at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having previously been unbeaten their since it opened in 2019.

Man United's 3-1 home defeat to Brighton saw the Seagulls win on two consecutive trips to Old Trafford for the first time in their history.
