CSU Rams release 2021 football schedule with plans to fill Canvas Stadium “to capacity” – The Denver Post
5th March 2021

The Colorado State football team’s 2021 schedule is set, and it might even include a full Canvas Stadium.

The school’s athletic department released its football schedule Friday afternoon after the Mountain West revealed its 2021 slate, and declared its intent to allow fan attendance next fall starting with the football team’s season opener Sept. 4 against South Dakota State.

“While heathy and safety officials and the most current data will ultimately lead all decisions, the department is expecting to be able to fill Canvas Stadium to capacity in 2021,” a CSU athletics release stated.

CSU’s 12-game slate features six home games, but does not include a date with CU for the second consecutive year. The Rocky Mountain Showdown was canceled last fall and is not scheduled to resume again until Sept. 16, 2023, in Boulder.

While the Rams will miss out on playing the Buffs, they will get to host the SEC’s Vanderbilt Commodores on Sept. 11 and visit Big Ten power Iowa on Sept. 25.

The Rams’ lone bye week immediately follows the end of their four-game non-conference schedule, meaning they will close out the season with eight consecutive conference games. That begins with a visit from defending conference champion San Jose State on Oct. 9, and concludes with the season finale against Nevada on Nov. 27.

In between, the Rams will also host Boise State (Oct. 30) and rival Air Force (Nov. 13), and look to retain the Bronze Boot when they travel to Laramie for a Nov. 6 meeting with Wyoming.

The dates for Ag Day and homecoming will be announced at a later date, and kick-off times will be revealed after TV assignments have been made. The latter generally does not happen until a week or two prior to the game.
