Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov to discover fate on January 29 after shocking scenes at UFC 229
11th December 2018

The UFC stars were due to discover their fate today but the pair have asked for longer in order to prepare their defences.

Now they have been given until January 29 to finalise their cases.

Nurmagomedov forced Notorious to submit as he retained his UFC Lightweight Title in Las Vegas in October.

But it was after the bell when the real drama unfolded.

Mayhem erupted when Nurmagomedov jumped over the cage to confront the Irishman’s team-mate Dillon Danis in the front row.

Then McGregor struck a member of the Russian’s team before another of victor’s gym-mates struck the former champion.

Both fighters were hit with fines and suspended indefinitely.

Now it looks like they will be facing lengthy bans once the Nevada State Athletic Commission eventually considers their cases.

Nurmagomedov still has not received half of his £1.6m purse after UFC originally withheld the entire sum after the shocking scenes.

He was paid 50 per cent of it after a hearing in October.

The Russian has since been linked with a mega-money switch into the boxing world to fight Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor is rumoured to be preparing for a rematch against Dustin Poirer.
