To us punters, the real festivities begin with the out-and-out puntathon on Boxing Day.
The King George this year is an absolute screamer, though there are question marks over several at the top of the betting.
One who could outrun his odds is CLAN DES OBEAUX (3.05 Kempton), who ran with a good deal of credit when fourth in the Betfair Chase last month.
He is a big horse and will have come on plenty for that run, while I've a feeling this track and trip will suit more than Haydock's extended 3m1f.
His trainer Paul Nicholls is a master at peaking his runners in this race, top jock Harry Cobden takes the ride and there looks sure to be a strong gallop up front, which could set it up for a closer.

3.05 Kempton – Clan Des Obeaux: 'Will strip fitter for comeback run and there are question marks over market leaders'
3.25 Wolverhampton – Isle Of Avalon: 'Bred to relish this step up to 1m4f and he could be dangerously handicapped'
On the sand at Wolves, take a chance on ISLE OF AVALON (3.25 Wolverhampton) for Sir Mark Prescott.
The stoutly-bred three-year-old only showed minor promise in three starts over 7f-1m last year.
The son of Camelot returns from a break over a much more suitable trip of 1m4f.
An opening handicap mark of 68 could prove very lenient for this well-bred sort, who has landed a good inside draw for jockey Luke Morris.
