Wetherspoons staff 'sadly announce' pub closure earlier than planned – exact date for last orders revealed | The Sun
11th September 2023

WETHERSPOONS has "sadly announced" the closure of one of its boozers – and it's earlier than originally planned.

The Widow Frost in Mansfield had told customers it would be pulling its final pints on September 22.

But a spokesperson for the chain has since confirmed it will now be closing its doors on September 17 – five days earlier than planned.

A note on the boozer's bar reads: "We sadly announce that The Widow Frost is now closing on September 17, 2023.

"We are all hoping but not promising to see you all round at The Stag and Pheasant."

The Stag and Pheasant is another Spoons pub in Clumber Street, Mansfield.

Local residents have been taking to Facebook to share their dismay at the closure of the pub.

One said: "This is so sad," while another said: "It's not a bad pub really, never had a bad experience in the past."

A third added: "We've had some blinding times in there, always loved that pub."

A spokesperson for Wetherspoons previously told local news website The Chad there won't be any redundancies and staff will be transferred to nearby pubs in Mansfield, Workshop, Sutton or Kirkby.
