On Wednesday, the House of Representatives gathered to vote to impeach President Donald Trump a second time, almost exactly a year after the first impeachment vote. This time, Democrats are charging him with "incitement of insurrection" for his role in last week's deadly Capitol Hill attack.
Amid the hours-long hearings on Wednesday, the result of what some have called our "crumbling democracy," emerged at least one bright spot: Representative Yvette Clarke, who presided over the hearing in an all-red outfit, topped off with a matching red face mask.
Clarke, who is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, appears to have worn the sorority color in celebration of Founders Day, the anniversary of when the sorority was founded at Howard University in 1913.
On Wednesday afternoon, Huffington Post editor Philip Lewis tweeted a screenshot of Clarke at the hearing, writing, "when you're impeaching the president but you still gotta let 'em know its founders day."
Clarke responded, "And that's on 1913."
Lewis's tweet went viral, with fellow Deltas and constituents of Clarke's responding to the frankly flawless outfit.
Clarke has called the impeachment vote "crucial," having called for a "a swift and immediate vote" earlier this month.
"Each day he remains in office puts the safety of the American public at risk and threatens our democracy. We must act now," she tweeted last week.
