I am 46 and my wife is 44. We have been married for 16 years and have two children, aged 14 and 12.
I get anxious before sex and sometimes I can’t maintain an erection. I often have to wait a long time before I can try again.
I have seen many doctors and tried different treatments but I still have this problem. I have been using Viagra, which helps, but I still get anxious before sex. If I don’t do something she will leave.
DEIDRE SAYS: The threat from your wife has made your problem much worse.
You are tense and anxious, having got into a pattern of worrying about failure. That in itself is enough to block your sexual responses.
My e-leaflet Solving Erection Problems explains self-help steps to build your sexual confidence. I hope your wife reads it too.
