A mum has hailed a £4.50 moisturiser as a ‘miracle cure’ for her son’s long-term painful eczema .
Kerry McPhee, 35, was desperate searching for a cream to ease her five-year-old Ashton’s condition, which left him painful red patches across his face, shoulders and chest.
Little Ashton – who was born with cerebral palsy – has been using prescribed medical creams for months with no sign of improvement until his mother found the £4.50 ‘Dream Cream’ from Lush.
She told Daily Record : "Ashton is non verbal so can’t tell us when it is itchy or irritating which made it really hard. We couldn’t pinpoint what was causing it.
"But we could see how sore it looked – we would go out and I could see people almost grimacing at his face."
Kerry and her husband Sam, from Paisley, Renfrewshire, spent months visiting dermatologist with Ashton, and tried everything they could from prescribed washes and emollients to maximum strength steroid creams.
"The doctor told me that he had prescribed the strongest possible steroid for his face – but even that didn’t really work," said Kerry.
As a last resort, Kerry turned to the Internet to find a cure as she wrote a post on a Facebook group seeking for advice.
Her post was flooded with messages recommending various products, but there was one cream that stood out.
"Everyone was mentioning Dream Cream from Lush. Honestly I was skeptical but I picked up a sample to try.
"I didn’t really expect it to work," she said.
Within four days Ashton’s eczema had cleared up and his rashes had completely healed.
She said: "I was really shocked to see how dramatic the results were. That’s why I want everyone to know about this cream.
I know eczema is very personal issue and what works on one person might not work on the other. But to see the difference it made to Ashton’s skin was incredible.
