25th December 2018

A 37-year-old man is dead after falling from a 22-storey tower block on Christmas Eve, say police.

The tragic incident happened at Thorn Court in Pendleton in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Police officers, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene just before 11.30pm on Monday night.

The man was pronounced dead after emergency services members arrived on scene.

Greater Manchester Police said the man’s death is not considered suspicious, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Built in 1969, Thorn Court was one of nine Salford tower blocks where cladding was ordered to be removed following the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

The 22-storey block sits opposite the Salford Crescent railway station.

It is owned by Salford City Council and managed by Pendleton Together.
