Gemma is Michael and Louise Owen's eldest daughter, with the couple also being parents to James, 16, Emily, 14, and Jessica, 12.
The brunette beauty is an international dressage rider, who has competed for Great Britain in the 2021 European Championships.
Earlier this year, Gemma launched her own luxury swimwear brand, OG Beachwear. She took to Instagram to announce the exciting news in February, writing: “My new brand OG Beachwear is officially live!
“People that know me will know that this has been a dream of mine for a long time and It feels amazing to have it finally up and running!”
She boasts 43,400 followers on the social media app, and regularly shares photos of fun nights out and lavish holidays.
Speaking ahead of her stint in the Love Island villa, Gemma opened up about her love of sport and competitive nature. She said: "Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My dad was a professional football player. I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11 years old. I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive. [When it comes to relationships] I will always go for what I want.
"But at the same time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection. I wouldn’t do anything to another girl that I wouldn’t be happy with them doing to me."
She also spoke about her decision to go on the show, explaining how she's hoping to have a "really fun summer". Gemma said: "I am open to finding love, I'm wanting to have a really fun summer. I was seeing someone, and then that didn't work out so I thought, "Why not?"
"I would say I'm fun, flirty and fiery. I think I'm good at giving advice, I'm a good person to talk to, I'm very honest. If I want the same guy, I'd do it but in a nice respectful way."
Gemma has reportedly gained the blessing from her protective footballer dad Michael to go on the dating show this summer.
Love Island will return to ITV2 on 6 June and the official line-up has been revealed.
