Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have welcomed their second child.
The singer, 35, who is already a mother to a one-year-old son, reportedly secretly gave birth to another boy earlier this month.
According to TMZ, Rihanna gave birth on 3 August in Los Angeles.
Their sources also said the baby's name starts with "R".
She surprised fans earlier this year during her hotly-anticipated Super Bowl performance, by announcing she was pregnant with her second child.
The Barbadian singer, who hasn't performed live in seven years, proudly rubbed her stomach that was dressed in a form-fitting red ensemble. Her team confirmed the news after her 13 minute set.
Her announcement comes just nine months after she welcomed her first child with partner A$AP Rocky, who was seen supporting her at the Arizona stadium.
Let's take a look back at their relationship from their initial meeting to bombshell news…
Work, work, work together
Long before Rihanna and A$AP, both 35, were a fully fledged couple, they were helping each other with their careers.
A$AP, whose birth name is Rakim Mayers, featured on a remix of Rhianna's song "Cockiness (Love It)," and the pair performed a suggestive routine at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Rihanna then had a starring role in his music video for single 'Fashion Killa' in 2013, with the pair predicting the future and playing a couple who go shopping together. He even references her in the lyrics saying: "Her attitude Rihanna".
In the same year, A$AP supported Rihanna during in the US leg of her Diamonds World Tour.
Relationship rumours did begin to swirl when they appeared cosy, but A$AP refuted them saying: "I don't even look at her like that. She's sexy, but I'm good." Perhaps, he isn't so good at predicting the future then!
The long-term friends began to attend events together, but still kept things platonic. They sat front row at Louis Vuitton's 2018 Paris fashion show, and then A$AP attended Rihanna's charitable Diamond ball two years in a row.
They put on the ultimate glamorous display at the 2019 British Fashion Awards. Both artists were decked out in Fenty, which is Rihanna's brand named after her surname.
Rihanna was appreciative of A$AP's regular support and wrote on Instagram: "And thank you @asaprocky for representing us on the carpet and always being so supportive of @Fenty!!"
Friends to lovers
Following Rihanna's split from partner of three years, Hassan Jameel, in early 2020 the two begin to become linked romantically.
At the time a source told The Sun: "Rihanna is reluctant to put a label on it as it’s so soon after Hassan. They’re really enjoying each other’s company and taking things easy as it’s still early days."
Before adding that she was "a newly-single girl having fun." Well, it didn't take long for it to become a bit more serious than that.
Throughout the year, they are spotted hanging out at various place in New York and Los Angeles while on a road trip together.
At this point a source told Us Weekly: "Things changed over the summer and they finally hooked up. They've been together ever since."
Once again supporting Rihanna's ventures, A$AP starred in a Fenty Skin campaign.
In a GQ interview to promote the products Rihanna interviews A$AP and he told her: “I think the hardest part about working with you is not goofin' off and laughing the whole time." Cute!
At the end of 2020 they hit a major milestone when A$AP spent Christmas with Rihanna and her family in Barbados.
For the first time, A$AP discusses their romantic relationship. In May 2021 he told GQ: "I think when you know, you know. She’s the One", and also refers to Rihanna as "the love of my life".
The couple then pose together at their first red carpet as an official couple. They chose the prestigious Met gala dressed in co-ordinating looks as the perfect place to make their romantic debut on the scene.
Baby on the way
In January 2022, Rihanna proudly shares off her bare bump in New York, while walking hand-in-hand with A$AP. They chose Harlem to make their happy announcement, as this is A$AP's hometown.
In April she opened up on their relationship properly for the first time with Vogue saying: "I love the simple things but also the grand adventures. There’s no pretentious my-brand-your-brand bullshit, it’s just us living. I just feel like I can do any part of life by his side."
And she tells the publication that "transparency" is her favourite thing about their relationship explaining that it is "the vulnerability to be able to say what you feel about each other."
Around this time, cheating allegations on A$AP's part began to surface, but they chose to keep a dignified silence.
He was accused of cheating with shoe designer Amina Muaddi, who spoke out on Instagram to deny the rumours and called it "fake gossip – fabricated with such malicious intent".
The couple welcome their baby boy on May 13th, but decide not to reveal his name. She tells Vogue: "Being a new mum is insane. It is lovely. It is epic, honestly.”
Although, she keeps details about their son largely private, in December she makes her debut on TikTok with a video of her adorable baby interacting with her.
And now we're back to present day! Rihanna has announced her second pregnancy with A$AP during an epic Super Bowl performance. Before taking to the stage, she did drop some subtle hints.
One fan joked on Twitter: "I can see why they call him asap." The celebratory news also caused some concern over whether Rihanna would put out a new album anytime soon.
But of course the overwhelming reaction is joy that this couple are expanding their family once more, and the upmost respect to Rihanna for pulling off the performance. One person wrote: "First performance in 7 years, pregnancy announcement, fenty promo, all in one. rihanna is the QUEEN."
Congratulations to Rihanna and A$AP!
