‘I’m a 23-year-old mum with 34 children – this is how busy my mornings are’
24th June 2022

A 23-year-old woman has revealed her hectic morning routine as a mum to 34 kids in a viral TikTok video.

Tusayiwe Mkhondya shared a clip of her preparing meals for the children she cares for in her home for orphans, street kids and teen mothers in Malawi.

Tusayiwe started the home after hitting living a rough life herself as she was a homeless single mum at the age of 18.

On her @tusaiweyana account, she explained: “All the kids are not abandoned. Some are orphans, some have only one parent, some have both parents but they have been abandoned by those parents. I provide education, empowerment and skills.”

She opened her organisation You Are Not Alone (Yana) shortly after, welcoming kids from the ages of five months up to the age of 16 years old – but caring for them all can be very gruelling work.

In the TikTok video, which has gained more than 731,000 likes, she revealed how her day begins at 4am as she prepares meals for all of them for throughout the day – including sandwiches, hot dinners and juice boxes.

The caption read: “I am the only one who cooks for the under 5 children and every child has his/her own morning chores.”

While it seems like she has the day sorted, after the kids go to bed at 7pm, her night shift starts, with lots of babies waking up for a feed.

In the clip, she added: “I have to feed them and also change their diapers and I also have to prepare for work and the next day.”

The mum has since been praised on the app for her efforts, with one saying: “You are doing an amazing thing for all of them! Keep it up!”

Another wrote: “May God reward you abundantly.”

A third added: "You're doing such an amazing role congrats."

A fourth commented: "If superwoman exists she’s the one."

The mum thanked her followers for all of the support, writing: "Thank you so much TikTok family for the love and support."

Her orphanage is primarily funded by donations from her kind-hearted followers who have raised £23,460 on GoFundMe.

The news comes after Sue Radford, the head of Britain's biggest family – The Radfords – took to her Instagram story to say she's taken down her baby cot after having it up for 30 years.

Posting on her Instagram stories to share the news, she shared a photo of the cot being dismantled, writing: "So this has just happened – the cot is gone.

"For the first time in over 30 years we don’t have a cot in the house. Such a massive milestone which feels weird but good."
