I went on three dates with a man – then he DUMPED ME and told me to go to the gym because I wasn’t fit enough for him

  • A woman shared the astounding text she was sent from a man she’d been dating
  • He said he wasn’t physically attracted to her, but told her ‘grind for six months’
  • The man said fitness was important and he wanted his partner to be the same

You’ve got to kiss a few frogs to find a prince, but this one has requested that a woman hit the gym before he committed.

In a more than two-minute-long clip, a woman, who doesn’t reveal her name, explained she had been on three dates with a man when he sent her a shocking message, which addressed some of the issues he had been having.

‘Today I received a crazy text from a guy I went on three Hinge dates with,’ she began.

She then shared lengthy text, with her friend reading it out loud for the video.

‘I mostly want to preface by saying how much I’ve enjoyed talking to you and seeing you the last couple of weeks,’ the message started off.

A woman (pictured center) had been on three dates with the man when he sent her a message telling her he wasn’t that physically attracted to her

She shared the text message in a video posted to social media, saying he enjoys spending time with her – with a caveat

Adding he thinks the woman is ‘gorgeous and beautiful,’ and he wants to ‘stare at her smile’ all day long, he then described her as ‘perfectly goofy’ and not taking herself ‘too seriously.’

‘You’re so caring and  have a lot of love and energy to give and I can see that every day,’ he continued.

‘I could tell right away we had similarities and I love how you pointed out that your parents are so in love and it seems like you wanted to have the same kind of love as them.’

However, the niceties stopped there and the man divulged his true feelings, saying it was ‘tough to have a really good physical connection’ that ‘matches everything else.’

‘I know it sounds terrible to say [but] I have to be honest because my life revolves around staying fit,’ the shocking message read.

‘That’s just who I am and something I’ve been thinking about since Friday, and the right way to say this and the right way to say this that makes you understand how much I appreciate you.

‘I don’t even want to say this and I’m dreading sending it cuz I truly don’t want you out of my life but right now is just not the right time.

‘Even with that said, I would love it it you reached out at some point in the future and I could very easily see if you grinded harder for 6 months or a year in the future or whatever it is I honestly think I would marry you.’

The woman re-read the message out with her friends, who were all in hysterics over the message

The woman and her friend burst into laughter when the message was ended.

‘I did cry a lot after receiving this, being told I am too fat by this guy,’ she admitted.

‘So I’m going to lose 20 pounds and I’ll see him and we’re gonna get married,’ she joked through laughter.

She then said she wasn’t planning on responding to the text, but had brainstormed some ideas with her friends.

‘We were gonna say, “if you paid for liposuction could we get married faster?”‘ she added sarcastically.

The shocking tale was shared on an unknown account before being reposted on X, previously known as Twitter.

The video was first posted on Catch Up’s page, but has been reposted by journalist Ian Miles Cheong, where it had has had more than 4.5 million views.

‘A woman receives a text from a man she’s been on three dates with saying she’s too fat but that he would love for her to come back after six months of grinding at the gym,’ he captioned the post, which spurred thousands of comments.

There were mixed responses to the video, with some writing there’s nothing wrong with setting standards when dating

Some users responded agreeing with the man, writing there is nothing wrong with him setting standards for what he’s looking for in a partner.

‘What’s wrong with a dude who has standards,’ one bluntly responded.

‘Everyone here knows we have a standard that we expect from our spouse or future spouse. For him, weight is a considerable thing…. he’s not in the wrong full stop,’ they wrote.

‘I’m terrible with people and I wouldn’t even have worded it that way. Though, I can understand feeling a connection to someone but can’t get over the physical aspect because they don’t take care of themselves. At least he’s being honest,’ another person wrote.

Others were appalled by the text message.

‘Everything sounded very polite and empathetic till he said “grind for 6 months and get back to me,”‘ one user wrote.

‘Honesty is the best policy. But. He is wrong here,’ another agreed.
