A thrifty homeowner has told how she transformed her husband’s former tool cupboard into a modern beauty room for her daughters.
Kirsty Davies Powell, from the UK, took to Facebook group DIY Official On A Budget to share impressive before and after photos of her handiwork, and penned: ‘My cupboard on the stairs transformed from my husband’s work tools storage to a beauty room for my three daughters. All done on a budget.’
And many were quick to take to the comments section, praising the mum for her creativity and for making the most of the space available.
‘Oh wow what a brilliant makeover and great use of that space..Well done, your girls must love it,’ enthused one, while a second agreed: ‘That’s so lovely, what a beautiful use of the space.’

Alongside the snaps of her project, Kirsty penned: ‘My cupboard on the stairs transformed from my husbands work tools storage to a beauty room for my three daughters (pictured)
A third penned: ‘Wow! Great transformation! Lucky girls,’ while a fourth added: ‘Three very lucky girls. Wow, that’s brilliant.’
In the before snaps, the tired-looking room can be seen with nothing more than a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling and marks all over the wall.
But following Kirsty’s efforts, its since been given a new lease of life – with a lick of paint, a simple mirror, a couple of shelves and storage baskets for accessories and products.
The savvy homeowner went on to explain how she bought the holder for her hairdryer and straighteners for £3 from eBay, while the lino tiles were spares her husband – a floor layer – had leftover from work.

‘Fab use of space!! Looks amazing! Can’t help but think of the fights when they all wanna get ready maybe a long mirror on the back wall and one on the window sill.’
