Celebrity chef Cat Cora has revealed the rather surprising way she became ‘buddies’ with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as she chatted with Lance Armstrong about the most famous numbers in their phones during an upcoming episode of Stars on Mars.

The Iron Chef star, 56, got candid about how she was introduced to the famous couple during a chat with former professional road racing cyclist, Armstrong.

In an exclusive clip from Monday night’s episode, Armstrong brought up an earlier conversation in which they had been discussing ‘the most famous person on your phone’.

One of the big names included Oprah, and Cora stated: ‘Yeah, she’ll text me once in a while and ask me if I can do something. Or I’ll text her on her birthday and stuff like that.’

The TV chef then explained how Oprah connected her with the Duke and the former Suits actress as she continued: ‘One time last year, I hear my phone go “Oprah is calling” and she said “Cat, it’s Harry’s birthday” – Harry and Meghan, you know – “and I need you to cook for them.”‘

Cora joked about the fact she had only been given two days notice to organize what she needed for the birthday meal before she continued: ‘So I cooked for them and they’ve become buddies. They are really nice.’

Her comment appeared to take Armstrong by surprise as he replied: ‘They are? Interesting.’

Cora then stressed her love for the late Queen Elizabeth II, to which Armstrong quipped: ‘Girl, you’re from Mississippi. What are you talking about the queen for?’

The chef defended herself as she responded: ‘She was really sweet, she was like an old grandma.’

Lance then responded stating, ‘We’re Americans’, before the pair laughed together.

In May 2022, the chef revealed her acquaintance with the Sussexes after sharing pictures of them speaking at a polo match at Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club.

Cora’s caption from the annual Harry East Memorial Tournament revealed her excitement at being able to attend as she wrote: ‘My Pretty Woman dreams came true! I got to stomp divets this weekend with my amazing friends, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to support local charities at the Santa Barbara polo fields. The Duke and his team won! Viva Los Padres!!’

Just months later, she also revealed her admiration for the Queen when she died aged 96.

She wrote in tribute: ‘Today the world says goodbye to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning female Monarch in the world. She was the Queen of our generation, but also a wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

‘Her brilliance as a leader in the UK and the world was truly inspiring. She captivated the world with her eloquent words as we were allowed glimpses into the life of Her Majesty and the Royal family.’

She continued: ‘I have such fond memories of watching her on television in her elegant jewels and beautiful and colorful dresses and suits.
