Christmas party chaos as revellers descend on bars and clubs for festive fun
10th December 2018

Revellers overdid the Christmas party mayhem this weekend as they were snapped arguing, brawling in the street and staggering home.

The merry party-goers put on their festive outfits to brave chilly temperatures in Newcastle for their celebrations.

But as these photographs show, the season of goodwill was lost on some.

One woman was pictured with blood pouring down her face.

Some were seen bundled into police vans and others were snapped arguing in the street.

In one image, a man leans into the passenger’s side of a car – believed to be a taxi – and appears to be in a heated dispute with the customer.

But others looked like they were getting into the festive spirit, with a vast array of Christmas fancy dress on show.

Last year pubs registered an small increase in drink sales over the festive period, up 1.8% on the previous year.

But the busiest party night comes on December 21 – the last Friday before Christmas – otherwise known as Mad Friday.

It’s called that because it’s the biggest and busiest party night of the year where almost everyone is out, from the regulars to those who can’t handle their booze.

Previously, the night was known as Black Friday but since the American shopping event got so big over here due to Amazon, the name was changed to mad Friday to avoid confusion, reports Manchester Evening News.
