California Streaming: Here’s What To Expect From Apple’s New Launch Event On September 14
8th September 2021

The company usually uses its fall event to showcase new iPhones, and so it is widely expected that Apple will reveal an iPhone 13 lineup. With last year’s iPhone 12 lineup introducing 5G and other major innovations, this year’s models will likely be more evolutionary than revolutionary. Leaks suggest minor tweaks and upgrades, such as a more powerful A15 processor and improved cameras. While the displays are rumored to stay the same size as the iPhone 12, the dreaded notch is expected to shrink for the first time since it was introduced with the iPhone X. Prices are expected to track the previous generation – $699, $799, $999, and $1,099.

A new Apple Watch, expected to be called the Apple Watch Series 7, is rumored to have a brand-new design with flatter edges and larger 41mm and 45mm screens, a 1mm bump from the Series 6. This will be the first complete redesign of the Apple Watch since the Series 4 was introduced in 2019. $399 is the company’s usual entry-level price for its flagship smartwatch but expect to pay $1,499 if you opt for the Hermès collaboration featuring the Fauve Barénia Leather Double Tour designer band.

Apple’s popular AirPods are rumored to get a new design that takes cues from the AirPods Pro, but without Active Noise Cancellation, as Apple likely wants to give people a reason to buy the more expensive model. The AirPods 3 are rumored to get a modest price hike this year, starting at $199, while the AirPods 2 started at $159.

How will you pay for all this new Apple merch? Fortune is reporting that Apple will be rolling out a payment plan service for the higher-priced AirPods 3 and all other upcoming Apple products. This would allow customers to buy the AirPods 3 ‘over monthly installments via its Apple Card credit card,‘ with costs split up ‘over several months with interest-free payments.’

What not to expect?

Rumors suggest Apple has more on the way, including new iPads like the long-overdue iPad Mini update with a larger display. It is also widely expected that Apple will introduce a new MacBook Pro lineup featuring the most significant design refresh the product has seen since 2016, as well as second-generation Apple Silicone chips. The new MacBook Pros are expected to see a significant price increase and, like the new iPads, are planned for an event later this year.
