Does whisky go off?

Before you open a bottle of whisky, it lasts indefinitely and you can keep it on your shelf for as long as you like.

Once you've cracked it open for a glass, however, the clock starts ticking and you'll have one to two years until it's gone bad.

If you're wondering how to tell if your whisky has gone off, experts advise looking out for any change in smell or a sour, metallic taste.
