A POPULAR bargain supermarket is set to shutter another location within weeks.

The Iceland on Watford high street is set to close for good, as employees and customers have expressed their disappointment.

Leaflets were shared with locals, as it was announced October 6 is the last day to place online orders and the store shuts October 14.

A staff member told the Watford Observer: "I’m quite disappointed but I’m more disappointed for the customers in the sense of for the last couple of years we’ve heard ‘it’s closing’, but now it’s actually happening it’s reality.”

In a statement, Iceland Foods said: "The Iceland store in The Parade, Watford is due to close on October 14. Across Iceland and The Food Warehouse we have a portfolio of over UK 1,000 stores, and our retail estate has grown by nearly 200 stores over the last ten years.

"We typically open more than 20 new stores each year, creating many new jobs and contributing to the growth of local economies.

Only days ago, it was revealed the bargain supermarket will be closing its store on Trinity Street, Huddersfield on October 28.

The popular discount supermarket mainly sells frozen and prepared meals and vegetables.

It comes after several Iceland stores already shut this year.
