You’ve endured a year of lockdown, an election, and an incessant stream of negative headlines. Finding anything great about the last year would be hard-fought, but things are looking up.
During a recent Friday Sessions, Dr. Gregory Scott Brown, M.D., chatted with host Ant Antstead to find out how the Brit found purpose and meaning during the longest year ever—and his hacks for maintaining positivity through it all.
Antstead, a motor specialist, former police officer, and presenter for shows on HGTV and BBC, doesn’t set an alarm clock most days. While that may not be easy for a lot of people to accomplish, he said doing this helps him avoid the negativity so many people associate with their clocks or smartphone alarms. “I get up with a renewed sense of energy because what I do feels purpose-driven,” he said. Antstead also practices another simple exercise when the day’s over: expressing gratitude. This act helps him find clarity. “I go to bed every night and think about what I’m grateful for,” he said. “…[These are] the great things I’ve done today. [These are] the great things I’m going to do tomorrow.”
