A BARGAIN-HUNTING mum has saved more than £48,000 for her family thanks to her obsession with coupons and cashback deals.

Aimee Moore, 46, from Scarborough, has got such a good eye for bargains and offers that she has been able to quit her job as a warehouse supervisor – and has since become an online celebrity in the process.

The full-time mum has clocked up thousands followers on Facebook with her ingenious money-saving tips.

Aimee, a self-described ‘cashback queen’, has managed to cut her family’s weekly food shop from £220 to just £30.

“Through couponing and cashback deals, I have saved over £12,000 on our bills per year,” said Aimee, who is married to husband Kevin.

“I have been able to become a stay-at-home mum to my children which is something I always dreamed of but never seemed possible before.

“We are able to spend time together as a family on the weekend and go out to places which we couldn’t afford as a family-of-five before.”

Aimee started couponing in 2013 and became a financial guru to her friends.

She set up a Facebook page called ‘Extreme Couponing and Cash Back UK’ after people constantly asked for advice on how to save money.

Aimee – who is mum to sons Isaac, Dexter and Bertie – said: “I was getting lots of messages from friends asking me how I was saving money and people would approach me in the supermarket when they saw me with my coupons.

“It seemed easier to just put all my money-saving tips in one place for my friends.

“I was shocked and pleasantly surprised when I started racking up thousands of followers every month with my couponing advice!”

As well as spending a few hours each evening looking for coupons, Aimee’s secret is never buying anything without researching the cost fully.

She also regularly checks for the latest mortgage and insurance offers to make she is getting the best deal possible.

Aimee’s top tips for saving YOUR family money

  1. Research things before you buy them and never be afraid to ask for a deal or advice
  2. Don't buy something if you aren't going to use it as that is not a saving
  3. Don't be afraid to stock up on items if they are a brilliant deal like laundry items, they can be a bit bulky but if bought on offer with a coupon etc they will save you a fortune
  4. Regularly check mortgage and insurance deals to make sure you’re getting the best deal possible and always pay your credit card in full
  5. Follow my Facebook page ‘Extreme Couponing and Cash Back UK’. Download all the apps I list on my page and look for coupons on the sites listed on my page

“I once did a £480 household shop for £4,” she said.

“I have slashed my yearly food bill by thousands and I get 99 per cent of our family's toiletries for next to nothing – if not free.

“But you can also save considerable money on virtually anything – clothes, holidays, insurance, toys, you name it.

“The only thing I have to buy full price is diesel fuel.

“Unfortunately there’s always something in life that you can’t always get a coupon or cashback for!”

Aimee was inspired to try the world of couponing and cashback deals when she and Kevin were looking to save money due to the high costs of child care.

“Three and a half years ago, we were skint and struggling,” she said.

“We needed to save money due to the high costs of school fees as all my sons are special needs and our house required some building work too.

“My husband and I were racking our brains on how we could manage everything and Kevin jokingly suggested that we try couponing like they did in America.

“It actually made me think and my brother downloaded some cashback apps on my mobile for me and that was the start of my love for bargain-hunting.”

Within six months, Aimee was able to give up her job and says couponing is not just a life-saver but also an enjoyable pastime for her.

“Couponing is definitely an addiction and hobby for me. I’m hooked!” she joked.

“It is amazing that you can save money on an online shop with vouchers then on top of that, you will probably get money back on that deal with a cashback app.”

Fellow coupon addict Kayleigh Hughes says she never pays full price for anything thanks to discount vouchers.
