FITNESS expert Joe Wicks has stepped up to be the nation’s PE teacher, as the UK goes on lockdown and schools have shut.

Joe is hosting live fitness sessions aimed at kids on his YouTube channel every weekday at 9am, and parents have joked how unfit they feel after joining in with their children.

So far, his Monday and Tuesday 30-minute-long videos have racked up nearly 3.5million views on his TheBodyCoachTV channel.

And many adults shared their dismay that they were unable to keep up with their kids.

One person tweeted: "Just done the Joe Wicks PE class! Safe to say I am seriously unfit I feel f***ed haha."

Another said: "Did the Joe Wicks workout with my little sister and it's safe to say I've never felt more unfit in my life #PEwithJoe."

Announcing the news on Twitter, Joe said the sessions were for “little kids right up to secondary school”.

He said: "It's a workout designed specifically for kids because when the schools are closed there is no PE.

"Don't worry, I've got you. I'm going to take this over.

"I'm going to get your kids moving, feeling energised, positive, optimistic."

The lessons called "PE with Joe" are streamed live on Wicks' You Tube channel at 9am.

'The Body Coach TV' channel has 1.2million subscribers and Monday's first episode had over a million views.

There's no need for any equipment with Wicks' lessons designed to be done in living rooms using only bodyweight.

Wicks' sessions will provide relief for parents who are indoors with children all day while they're off school.

While the sessions have been a wake-up call for some adults, others raved about them and said Joe has inspired them to get fit.

Someone else tweeted: "Just did the #joewicks 30 min workout. Kids laughing at how unfit I am.

“Going to do it everyday and when football starts again join a team. Feel knackered but happier."

Someone else said: "Thanks Joe Wicks for confirming how unfit I am. Here's to tomorrow."

Another added: “Kids said this was the most fun part of their day yesterday! Looking forward to joining you again today. Thank you.”

Here's how you can watch Joe's videos during the lockdown.

It comes after Britain's schools were closed indefinitely as the government battles to control the spread of coronavirus.
