AS the daughter of one of the world's top comedians, it would be easy to follow in his footsteps and pursue a light-hearted career path.

But it's not quite as simple to do the opposite and take on a job where telling jokes or laughing might be viewed very differently.

With five kids in his brood, Sir Billy Connolly must have expected one of his offspring to avoid the showbiz scene altogether.

However, becoming an undertaker – like his daughter Amy – must have been way down his list of potential avenues.

The 37-year-old started out in the fashion industry before choosing a deadly serious alternative.

Billy, 80, previously said: "Amy is studying to be an undertaker.

"She was working as a dress designer in Los Angeles and she got fed up with it.

"She saw an advert for an intern in a cemetery and she loved it the second she did it. It's the truth. She loves it."

Other than her father's revelation about her working life, Amy and the rest of Billy's kids usually stay out of the limelight.

Last month the stand-up legend revealed he has had a “couple of serious falls” after his Parkinson’s disease caused a “deterioration” in his balance.

Billy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease the same day he was told he had prostate cancer, which he has gone on to beat.

The comedian also revealed wife Pamela Stephenson, 73, dresses him in the morning and that he has to “get lifts everywhere” because he can no longer drive.

He says he spends his days at home and loves getting outside and fishing.
