Meghan Markle sparks baby trend as parents look to royal-inspired names

The name soared in popularity by a huge 49 per cent in the United States in the year that Meghan Markle married Prince Harry.


And Baby Centre predict that it will remain popular all "around the globe" in 2019.

The Duchess of Sussex is due to welcome her own child in March or April next year, and the name she picks is expected to also have an influence – will it be one of these?

Meghan is far from the only royal inspiring new parents – with Kate Middleton and Prince William also setting trends.

The name Louis rose in popularity by 17 per cent following the young prince's birth back in April, while his middle names Arthur and Charles could well follow suit next year.


Baby Centre can also see Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's names climbing up the list following their glamorous Royal Wedding back in October.

We previously revealed the names expected to be popular here in Britain next year – inspired by cult TV shows like The Bodyguard and Killing Eve.

While these are the most popular baby names of 2018, and little Louis' on the list.
