A RELATIONSHIP expert has revealed the warning signs that could mean your romance is fizzling out – and it's bad news if you eat junk food.

Jo Hemmings said everyone can be guilty of becoming wrapped up in work Monday to Friday and returning home in the evenings to simply rant about workplace woes.

But she warned that you can't neglect your relationship while worrying about the working week.

Jo, a sex and relationship psychologist with Knect, has offered her top tops to help partners connect during the working week.

She said: “It is important for couples to prioritise time alone during a busy week.

"Spending quality time alone together can help strengthen the bond between partners and during stressful weeks, taking some time to relax and enjoy each other's company can help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.

"Prioritising time alone together can help balance the demands of work and personal life, which can ultimately lead to a more fulfilling and satisfying relationship.”

To create hot habits at home, Jo says couples should schedule regular check-ins with each other, plan date nights, send surprise messages, find ways to support each other and practice active listening.

But how can you tell if the spark is taking a backseat in your relationship?

“By avoiding [certain] behaviours, couples can maintain a healthy and supportive relationship, even during busy working weeks,” Jo Hemmings adds.

Here, she reveals the top warning signs that your relationship is losing its spark…

Neglecting each other

“Even if you're both busy with work, it's important to make time for each other.

"Neglecting your partner can lead to feelings of loneliness and disconnection, which can strain your relationship.”

Taking work stress out on each other

“If you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed at work, try not to take it out on your partner.

"This can create unnecessary conflict and tension in your relationship.

"Instead, find healthy ways to manage stress, such as exercise, meditation, or talking to a friend.”

Ignoring communication

“Communication is key in any relationship, especially when you're both busy with work.

"Avoid ignoring calls, texts, or other forms of communication from your partner.

"If you can't respond right away, let them know when you'll be available to talk.”

Making important decisions without consulting each other

“If you need to make an important decision during a busy working week, try not to make it without consulting your partner first.

"Even if they're busy, it's important to include them in the decision-making process to ensure you're on the same page.”

Neglecting self-care

“Taking care of yourself is important for your overall well-being, which can also impact your relationship.

"Avoid neglecting self-care during a busy working week.
