A DENTIST has revealed the five foods you should avoid at all costs if you want healthy teeth.
So before you go munching on your popcorn, or if you’re planning on having a corn on the cob at a barbecue this weekend, you might want to listen up.
Dr. Derek Chung, who is from Toronto, took to social media to share the “five foods to stay away from.”
Not only did he claim that popcorn kernels can cause infections, but he also revealed that too much lemon can wear away the enamel on your teeth.
Sharing his expert advice, he said: “Here are five foods that the dentist does not like.
“Number one – popcorn kernels.

“I have had so many people come in with gum infections because they've had a popcorn kernel lodge inside their gums.
“I have picked so many out, it happens all the time.
“Number two – corn on the cob.
“You bite in the corn, you get a little piece of a corn husk stuck inside your gums and I’m picking it out for like 30 minutes.

“It causes gum infections – you do not want that either.”
Next, Dr. Derek explained why you should avoid sticky sweets.
He added: “Three – sticky, sugary candies, like caramel gummies.
“Super bad for your teeth because not only is there sugar, but once you bite into it, it actually sticks onto your teeth and can stay there for hours. Causes cavities guys.”
Dr. Derek then advised why you should avoid corn nuts and too much citrus fruit, as he shared: “Number four – corn nuts.
“The size and how hard they are are notorious for breaking teeth. Vertical refracture anyone?
“Number five – excessively eating lemons or citrus fruit is really bad for your teeth because it can wear away your enamel.
“So my salad lovers – lemon juice and balsamic vinegar? Think again.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @paste.dental, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 14,500 views.
Social media users were left stunned at Derek’s claims and many took to the comments to express this.
