I get married in two weeks and half my guests aren't coming – people say I've brought it on myself | The Sun

A BRIDE-TO-BE has been left heartbroken afterd discovering half of her wedding guests aren't coming.

The woman is set to tie the knot in West Lothian, Scotland, in less than three weeks time.

But with just days to go before she needs to give her venue final numbers, she was disheartened when she checked her RSVP list.

She revealed she has invited just over 100 day guests, but only 58 people have RSVP’d yes.

Taking to Facebook on Thursday, the bride said: "I expected some no's but not this many… I get married in 18 days.

"[Our venue] need final numbers and table plan one week before."

She accompanied her post with a broken heart emoji.

And while some of her fellow brides have sympathised with her guest list woes, others have suggested it could be her own fault for picking a Monday to get married.

One said: "Is it maybe cos you’re getting married on a Monday? Some people might not be able to get it off work.

"I wouldn’t worry too much the people who are important will be there."

Meanwhile a third added: "It’s the school October week holiday in a lot of areas."

Others have urged the bride to give her guests a gentle push, as one admitted: "As someone who is a terrible RSVP’er please don’t take it personally.

"I’m sure loads of people have forgotten but fully intending to go. Annoying for you but I’m sure not personal."

While a second agreed: "Life is busy for loads of people so they will probs have put it to one side thinking they’ll do it later and have forgot to go back, happens all the time."

The majority, however, have rallied around the gutted bride, and urged her to have the best day surrounded by her loved ones who do show up.

One said: "There's really no excuse to not got a Monday off if you invited them like a year in advance.

"But maybe harder for childcare if their kids aren't invited and stuff."

Another suggested: "Seems like a lot of nos but check one RSVP isn't 2+ people."

A third fumed: "People are so rude!!! Makes me so angry – something like a wedding people should reply as soon as they get the invite."

A fourth wrote: "If you haven’t heard from people by now Iwould take them off the list. Not your problem, you have enough to worry about."

Meanwhile, a fifth added: "This is so horrible. We had people that genuinely couldn't make it and gave us notice and then we had the ones a few days before making excuses, only a couple then.
