Royal expert shares signs Americans are ‘losing patience with Meghan’
5th September 2022

It is a big week for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they are heading to Manchester for the first in a series of charity appearances. But one royal expert think that people in the US will not be sad to have seen the pair go as they as starting to "lose patience" with them.

Duncan Larcombe, author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story says that after another series of revelations from the 41 year old duchess, all the signs are there that in his opinion the American public "isn't exactly warming" to Meghan.

Duncan claims the first red flag came when Meghan and Harry were one of the few high profile couples in the US not to be invited to former president Barack Obama's 60th birthday party.

The guest list for the event, which took place at Martha's Vineyard included John Legend and Chrissy Teigen as well as Tom Hanks and Bradley Cooper. But not Meghan and Harry. And Duncan thinks the recent revelations and claims that have been made on episodes of her recently released Archetypes podcast and her interview with American publication The Cut, aren't, in his opinion, doing her any favours.

Duncan says: "This interview and her podcasts have revealed an awful lot about Meghan’s character and what makes her tick, what her thought process are. The truth is you either warm to someone or you don’t and it looks like even the American public isn’t exactly warming to Meghan."

He also says her statements are becoming the "stuff of satire", fuelling a negative perception of her in the American media. "Her big bold statements are falling on deaf ears and is becoming the stuff of satire in massive American newspapers and those newspapers are only reflecting the feeling of the public, otherwise they wouldn’t sell."

Duncan also thinks that the former Suits actress may be suffering a little with overexposure and says that, in his opinion, she would be wise to "take a step back". He adds: "The Royal family work on the basis that less is more but Meghan is taking the opposite strategy and it remains to be seen if that will work.”

So far two episodes of Meghan Markle's Archetypes podcast have been released featuring interviews with tennis sensation Serena Williams and pop legend Mariah Carey. During the episodes Meghan has made a series of claims about her life as a working royal including that she was expected to continue with royal tour duties after a fire in son Archie's room while she and Harry were in South Africa. The Duchess also said that it was only since she and Harry had started dating that she knew how it truly felt to be treated like a black woman.
