Ronan Kemp has apologised for writing abusive social media posts, ahead of his I’m A Celebrity…. Get Me Out Of Here stint.
The 26-year-old has been confirmed to be heading to the Jungle – alongside Nadine Coyle, Caitlyn Jenner and Kate Garraway.
And, before stepping foot in Australia, the Capital FM DJ took a second to clear his social media history up.
Taking to his Instagram story, he shared a video with his 204k followers, explaining: ‘I wanted to talk about something I’ve seen a lot of celebrities talking about, and people around the world talking about, and that is the use of language online.’
He then revealed a friend went through ‘something terrible’ with a troll, which led him to check his own Twitter account, seeing if he had ever ‘posted anything that could cause harm or offence to someone’.
‘Being totally honest, I’m shocked and appalled and ashamed to say I did find things,’ Martin Kemp’s son continued.
‘I did find things I’m not at all proud of. I don’t associate myself with that. I know the person who wrote those things is not the man I am now, but they were there.’
While Roman didn’t reveal exactly what the posts contained, the radio star admitted that he had now taken them down.
‘I made the conscious decision to get those things, I have deleted those things, I don’t want that negativity in the world,’ he added. ‘I don’t want the legacy I have on the internet to be a place where there is negativity, or something that can cause offence.
‘For anyone that has ever been offended by something I have said online, I am truly, deeply and utterly sorry.
‘Going forward, I want to be that good social media user that spreads happiness about humans, not negativity.
‘I hope that you watching this want to do the same. Together, let’s make the internet a bit of a better place.’
Roman’s message comes after he was confirmed to be taking part in this year’s I’m A Celeb – alongside a host of other huge names.
The Sun states EastEnders favourite Jacqueline Jossa and Arsenal legend Ian Wright are also among those jetting down under.
I’m A Celebrity returns on Sunday, 17 November, on ITV.
