Nick Cannon is a special kind of multi-talent that many could only dream of matching. An actor, a singer, a rapper, a comedian, and a father to numerous kids are just a few of the jobs he can put on a resume, and that’s without all the TV shows he’s hosted. Now, Cannon can add something else to that extensive list of accomplishments: college graduate.
Nick Cannon finished school during the pandemic while no one was looking
Black Enterprise reports on Cannon’s graduation from Howard University. The star had been attending classes since 2016 and finally graduated after four years with a BS in Criminology and Administration of Justice, plus a minor in Africana Studies.
Back in 2016, many wondered why Cannon had chosen to go to college in the first place. In response, he quoted Nelson Mandela’s famous statement, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Overall, he hoped that earning a degree would help him better himself and those he impacts. He also added how he always strives for personal growth and new challenges, as well as how much respect he has for Howard, in particular, because of how many of his friends and associates graduated from the institution.
On the day of graduation, he didn’t get to walk because of the pandemic. He did, however, get to give a commencement speech to the rest of the Class of 2020 at the virtual ceremony. As ABC reported, Cannon felt that it was a bit “awkward” to be giving a speech to a computer like that, but he still tried to do his best to inspire and honor the rest of the graduates.
Cannon plans to go back for more soon
A four-year degree isn’t where Cannon wants to stop with his education, though. On his Instagram, the star not only announced his graduation, but stated he wanted to do even more. “Masters and PHD is next!” he wrote beside a video showing off his cap and gap.
That’s about all he’s had to say about his higher education plans, though. Overall, he’s a great example of how no one is too old to get their degree. Whether you’re 18 or, like Cannon, close to 40, you can still achieve your dreams.
Overall, he had a very eventful quarantine
Cannon’s accomplishments don’t stop at school, though. Over the course of 2020 and well into 2021, he’s been keeping busy with all sorts of projects. He worked on his podcast, released music videos, dabbled in poetry, and joined the protests for racial justice over the course of the summer. He also helped deliver 2000 meals to members of his local community as part of a charity event in December.
Later in 2021, he’s set to continue hosting The Masked Singer. He’ll also be restarting production on his show Wild ‘N Out later in the year. He’s also coming back for another season of his daytime talk program, Nick Cannon Show (not to be confused with the one from over a decade ago).
His personal life has also been very eventful over the last two years. In December, he and model Brittany Bell announced the birth of their daughter, Golden. This followed six months later in June, as Cannon welcomed twin sons Zion and Zillion into the world alongside their mother, DJ Abby De La Rosa. A little later in the same month, his and model Alyssa Scott’s son, Zen, was also born. Between the two children he had with ex-wife Mariah Carey and the previous child with Bell, that brings the Cannon Clan’s total offspring up to seven, which, if his past comments are to be believed, will eventually be joined by even more.
