Newly divorced Tom Brady shows off his underwear model skills in viral retirement thirst trap, plus more news
7th February 2023
Tom Brady’s retirement thirst trap just tackled the internet

With his football career (and his marriage) officially behind him, Tom Brady kicked off his second week of retirement by showing the world what was under that Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniform. Namely: his Brady Brand underwear, which is all the recently divorced quarterback was wearing when he posed for a mirror selfie on the edge of his bed and shared it on his Instagram Story on Monday (Feb. 6). The seven-time Super Bowl champ was simply holding up his end of a 2022 promise to “recreate” photos from an ad campaign for his then-new Brady brand men’s underwear once a tweet about the original pics got 40,000 likes. The tweet had 48,000 likes as of Monday, prompting the clothing line’s official Twitter to tease its namesake, “Hey @TomBrady we haven’t forgotten about this.”

The branded boxer briefs, however, were hardly the focus of comments about the shot as it went viral on social media over the course of the morning. “Tom Brady retiring to become a thirst trap. Didn’t see that coming,” joked CBS Sports Radio commentator, Maggie Gray. “This is not a thirst trap. at all lol,” one person replied. “That is actually his new display at Madame Tussaud’s,” quipped another user on the same thread. Making a crack about Tom’s newly minted single status in the wake of his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bundchen, another Twitter user joked, “Even the Tom Brady’s [sic] of the world get confused about whether they have to put the picture on Instagram before they can upload it to Hinge.”

Luckily, Tom has plenty of time to work on his thirst trap looks. Shortly after the post surfaced, he confirmed he won’t join Fox’s NFL broadcast booth until 2024. Asked about his broadcasting deal with the network, the 45-year-old said on Monday’s “The Herd” radio show that he built in the break in order to “take some time to really learn, become great at what I want to do,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ted Cruz slams Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ Grammys performance as ‘evil’

Sam Smith and Kim Petras made Grammy Awards history on Sunday (Feb. 5), but the pair’s devilish performance of their hit “Unholy” ruffled more than a few conservative feathers. The theatrical, playful performance featured Sam in devil horns and Kim singing from inside a cage, with dancers in red robes surrounding her. Texas Senator Ted Cruz, for one, was not a fan.

“This…is…evil,” Ted tweeted on Sunday. He was responding to a clip of the number shared by conservative podcast host Liz Wheeler. “Don’t fight the culture wars, they say. Meanwhile, demons are teaching your kids to worship Satan,” she commented on the video, adding, “I could throw up.” Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene also weighed in. “The Grammy’s featured Sam Smith’s demonic performance and was sponsored by Pfizer,” wrote the congresswoman, who’s long opposed COVID-19 vaccines such as those made by Pfizer. “And the Satanic Church now has an abortion clinic in NM that requires its patients to perform a satanic ritual before services. American Christians need to get to work.”

The song — which won best pop duo/group performance, making Kim the first transgender woman and Sam the first non-binary winners of the category — is about embracing “queer joy,” Sam told NME last year. “I personally grew up wondering about religion and wanting to be a part of it, but then slowly realizing it doesn’t want me to be a part of it,” Kim said backstage of the performance, according to Variety. “So it’s a take on not being able to choose religion and not being able to live the way that people might want you to live, because, you know, as a trans person, I’m kind of already not wanted in religion.”

Adele and Lizzo get memed after Harry Styles’ album of the year win

Beyoncé’s album of the year loss to Harry Styles at the 2023 Grammy Awards left Bey’s fans furious, with members of the BeyHive demanding a recount on social media as they proclaimed their queen’s “Renaissance” the night’s real winner. (Which it was, in a way — the singer took home four trophies, giving her more Grammy wins than any artist in history, with 32 trophies.) While plenty of critics slammed the Grammys for serious concerns after it once again failed to award the top honor to a Black woman, others pointed to the reactions from two of Beyoncé’s most famous fans when Harry won the final award of the night. That would be Lizzo, who dedicated her 2023 record of the year win to Bey, and Adele, who did the same in 2017 when “25” beat Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” for album of the year.

Screenshots from the broadcast shared on Twitter showed what appeared to be Grammys seat neighbors, Adele and Lizzo, making stunned faces at one another when Harry’s name was announced at the end of the night. Video footage of Adele walking out of the auditorium, allegedly before Harry finished accepting his big award, also took over social media. “Adele leaving during Harry Styles little speech and Lizzo understanding why has me weak,” wrote one bummed-out fan.

Maria Shriver shares life-changing advice she got after Arnold Schwarzenegger split

Looking back on her 2011 split from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver recalls that time in her life as a new, if painful beginning. The veteran journalist opened up about her separation on Hoda Kotb’s “Making Space” podcast on Monday (Feb. 6), recalling how she’d visited a convent for advice after leaving Arnold when she learned he’d fathered a child with the family’s housekeeper years before. According to Maria, the conversation she had with the convent’s reverend mother left her “sobbing.”

“[She said], ‘You can’t come live here … but you do have permission to go out and become Maria,'” she recalled, noting how before that, she’d “never given myself permission to feel, to be vulnerable, to be weak, to be brought to my knees” (per Page Six). Maria said she left the convent and finally gave herself”permission to start learning.”Maria, 67, filed for divorce from Arnold, 75, in 2011. Afterwards, she said she took another look at her life, from top to bottom, asking herself, “What was my role? What could I do better? What had I done that put me in that place?'”

Khloe Kardashian confirms she’s single as Tristan Thompson apologizes to his late mom for ‘wrong decisions’

Khloe Kardashian assured fans she’s single on Sunday (Feb. 5), amid speculation she and her ex, Tristan Thompson, may have reconciled. “Who has time for a man lol I have a 6 month old baby and [my daughter] True and I are sickly codependent on one another. Ha! I secretly love it,” she tweeted, adding, “No but for real…. No man right now…. He’s in my prayers too ha! ??.”

The latest round of dating rumors about Khloe and Tristan surfaced after Khloe publicly supported the NBA star when his mother, Andrea, died suddenly of a heart attack on Jan. 5, a milestone Tristan marked on social media Sunday night with an emotional apology post. “Dearest mommy in heaven, it has been one month since you’ve been gone. I’m in disbelief,” he wrote in part, sharing family photos, including a shot with Khloe. “Im in the deepest part of sorrow & grief,” the athlete continued. “My soul is empty as I come to terms that my biggest supporter/superhero is gone. I cannot thank you enough for always being a woman of faith, being one of Gods warriors, fighting back with whatever the world threw our way. You were an amazing mommy, role model, best friend & the strongest woman I know,” he continued. The lengthy post also included an apology for past mistakes, though he didn’t reference his paternity or other cheating scandals explicitly. “All I can say is, Im sorry mommy for the wrong decisions Ive made in my life. Im sorry for the embarrassment & pain,” he wrote.

Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston revisit ‘Breaking Bad’ characters for last hurrah

“Breaking Bad” fans are in for a treat on Super Bowl Sunday — and it may be their last. Six years after the cult-favorite series ended, Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman and Bryan Cranston’s Walter White have reunited for a Super Bowl ad that features the duo cooking up snacks instead of drugs in their old RV from the show. In a clip from the commercial, Walter warns his partner, “no, we don’t eat our supply,” when Jesse gets a little too excited about the PopCorners chips they’re making.

“Everyone’s going to want a taste,” Jesse says. “And I know just the guy to talk to.” The pair then pays a visit to Tuco Salamanca (Raymond Cruz), the drug lord Walt and Jesse worked with way back when. A series of riffs on famous lines uttered by the characters on the show follows. “It’s so easy to kind of zip on that skin again,” Aaron tells People. “It’s just like revisiting a very familiar friend.” Recalling how “much fun” they had making the commercial, Bryan says he and Aaron still “fit like a glove” as co-stars. Despite their onscreen chemistry, that might be it for Walt and Jesse.”I feel like this is sort of where we all kind of hang our hats, at least with the ‘Breaking Bad’ universe,” Aaron says. “And what a fun way to go out.”
