Scottie Pippen’s eldest son was remembered with an emotional funeral ceremony in Georgia, after he died aged 33.
The NBA legend’s son was laid to rest by family members in Atlanta over the weekend, weeks after it was revealed that he died on April 18.
His mother Karen paid tribute to her late son on Instagram afterward as she penned a moving message.
Alongside a picture of the service card, she wrote: ‘Your wings were ready but my heart wasn’t. Son, it has been such a pleasure and honor to be your mother.
‘You’ve left me with so many wonderful memories that I will treasure daily. Your transition has left a huge gap in my heart and the pain is quite unbearable.’
She concluded: ‘I will miss you tremendously and my love for you is for ever. Rest well, my baby boy, until we meet again. @antronpippen @scottiepippen.’
Meanwhile, Scottie – a former Chicago Bulls basketball star – also marked the day on social media as he shared a throwback of himself and his son as a child.
He wrote: ‘Antron Jerrod Pippen… Dec. 29, 1987 – Apr. 18, 2021… Faithful, humble and resilient… Loved by all who knew him… His life and legacy will endure… RIP.’
Antron was the first child Scottie, 55, welcomed with ex-wife Karen McCollum, who he was married to from 1988 until 1990.
Scottie later married Larsa Pippen – before they divorced in 2018 – and they share four children; Scotty Jr, 20, Preston, 19, Justin, 16, and Sophia, 13.
The basketball icon was the one who shared the news on Antron’s death earlier this year as he tweeted: ‘I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game.
‘Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though—Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.’
He added: ‘Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again.’
