Mick Jagger writing Rolling Stones ballet with the mum of his son Deveraux
27th December 2018

Sir Mick Jagger is working on a Rolling Stones ballet with his girlfriend.

The singer, 75, is curating the music for a production written and choreographed by ballerina Melanie Hamrick, the mum of his two-year-old son Deveraux.

A source said she had taken time off from the New York-based American Ballet Theatre to focus on the project, “an original piece set to Rolling Stones music, edited by Mick Jagger, with selections from You Can’t Always Get What You Want, Paint It Black and She’s a Rainbow”.

The ballet, which is Melanie’s first, will premiere at the Mariinsky International Ballet Festival in St Petersburg, Russia, in March.

It will transfer to the Lincoln Center in New York the following month.

Sir Mick and the rest of the Stones will begin their 2019 No Filter tour across America soon after.

It will be the band’s first extended run of US shows since 2015.

Melanie, 31, recently revealed that Deveraux, Sir Mick’s eighth child, loves to show off his footwork.

She said: “He dances and dances and dances. He has his dad’s moves. Mine are really regimented.

"I’m not the best social dancer.”

Sir Mick has had something of a controversial love-life, having been married once to Bianca Jagger and having had relationships with Carla Bruni, Chrissie Shrimpton, Marianne Faithfull and Jerry Hall, who he fake-married in Bali in the 1990s.

He was also with the fashion designer L’Wren Scott from 2001 up until her tragic suicide in March 2014.

Mick has fathered eight children in total.

Deveraux was born in December 2016 when he was 73.
