Royal aides at Buckingham Palace have been reported to have disapproved of Meghan Markle's baby shower following the birth of their firstborn son, a close friend to the Sussex’s has claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex, 39, celebrated the upcoming birth of her son with Prince Harry, 36, in true American style after the royal couple hosted a five-day baby shower celebration in New York.
Several A-list celebrities were invited to the exclusive event at The Mark hotel in Manhattan, with only 20 people in attendance including Serena Williams and Amal Clooney in 2019.
But, it's now been reported that royal aides were "horrified" by the event. This comes as the Channel 4 documentary A Very Royal Baby: From Cradle to Crown hits our screens on Wednesday 19 May, which gives an insight into the pressures faced by royal parents and the attitudes towards pregnancy within the royal household.
Omid Scobie, a close friend of the royal couple, claimed in the documentary that one member of the institution “rolled their eyes” when the mention of Meghan’s baby shower cropped up in general conversation.
He said: “I remember speaking to a palace aide at the time who rolled their eyes, they were horrified that something so common was happening within the House of Windsor.”
The royal couple's biographer added the idea of a baby shower was “as far from British tradition as you can get” and was therefore un-welcomed by the royal family and their staff.

Speaking in the documentary, Ingrid said: “They walked in through the front entrance carrying these enormous bags from the most expensive shops in New York.
“Crowds gathered because they were all celebrities, there was Gayle King from CBS, Serena Williams and Amal Clooney.”
A senior aid revealed to Scobie while he was writing Finding Freedom: “It’s fair to say that the optics of the somewhat flashy shower did not go down well with certain individuals at the Palace.
“Meghan was often criticised for being too Hollywood, meaning too flashy. Especially for the reserved aesthetic of the monarchy.”
Scobie went on to admit that there has been “a lot of speculation” about where Harry and Meghan’s second child will be born, as the couple prepare to welcome their daughter in June.
This comes as the royal couple celebrate their third wedding anniversary on Wednesday which was upstaged by the announcement by Princess Beatrice’s pregnancy.
As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who plan to mark their anniversary by building a relief centre in India, celebrated their marriage at their £11 million California mansion, pollsters YouGov found a growing sense of resentment towards the could with 44% voting against their monikers.
